Got a late start tonight, so I didn’t really have much time to work on anything. I did, however, start on a book I’ve been meaning to get to while Kris was on the Sensei Ron call. Now I’ve done my video and blog for tonight, I’ll check my Facebook page, and go to bed early – for once. That’s one part of my wellness I’m still working on. I just can’t seem to get to bed on time, and that burns me out by the end of the week. So I’m going to go to bed on time for once, maybe read some more and say “good night”.
Well, first off, neither Kris nor I drink alcohol. We like our brain cells the way they are, thank you very much! There is some evidence that a little red wine can good for your heart. But as my sister says, red wine tastes like cough medicine (Okay, okay, no comments from the wine gallery).
Now I do like a good beer – in pancakes. I make beer pancakes. You just swap out the milk for beer. I like Rolling Rock. It makes a light fluffy pancake. At the other end of the spectrum, Mississippi Mud makes a hearty, stick-to-your-ribs pancake. And by the way, alcohol evaporates faster than water. But I digress.
So, we are pretty much left with water, juice and soda. If you’ve seen today’s video, I’m not kidding about diet soda. Go to www.sweetpoison.com and see what they say about aspartame – the sweetener found in diet soda. Once you read it, you’ll never want another diet soda again. Anyway, diet anything just doesn’t taste the same. I tried a diet Dew once, ugh!
Water is good, but boring, that’s why I like Juice Squeeze. I get in the 28-packs at Smart & Final. But my favorite drink is Mountain Dew. At the Los Feliz exit on the 5 freeway, Griffith Park has a train ride and pony rides. It was at the snack stand there that I had my first Dew when I was about five or six. My mom used to like Mountain Dew, too.
Hmmm, I’m getting thirsty. I think I’ll have one,
Dennis Cherry

Now I can see how people can get addicted to Facebook. There is a lot to explore and do. Aside from joining various small business and entrepreneur groups, I’ve also joined a couple of Lego groups because that’s my hobby. You can spend an awful lot of time reading posts on those as well as on your own wall. When I have a little spare time, I do. But the real reason I got a Facebook account was to have a presence on the internet and boost my business.
In the book, “Tribes”, Seth Godin explains how a manager manages a group, gets people to march in line. But a leader inspires a group, gets them excited about a subject and gets them to motivate themselves. That’s part of the idea behind the 90-Day challenge – to inspire by being an example. Unlike a group that is put together by outside forces, a tribe builds itself through a common interest.
This is also the basis of viral marketing. Get a group excited and they will follow you. “Tribes” gives you the theoretical, and Quattro instructors like Michelle Price and Morgan Westerman give you the practical nuts and bolts on how to do it on social media. One of the most exciting things about this challenge was the chance to put into practice all that I have been learning. It’s only day ten, lets see where this can go!
Leading the tribe,

Well first, yes, I know it’s not Monday, it’s Tuesday. But because of Labor Day, today seems like a Monday. Everything I would normally have to do Monday, I’m doing today. Well, except for the Founder’s call, which seems to have been postponed at the last minute today. But let’s assume that the Founder’s call was today as usual so I can explain what my typical Monday is like for me and what my challenges are.
Monday is all about wealth, and pretty much nothing else. That’s why it’s unbalanced. I start work at 7:30 am. I take only a half-hour lunch so I can get off at 5:00 pm. Now at 5:00 pm starts Quattro’s L.A. Market Team call. I miss it, but Kris calls in and tells me about it later. I get home at about 5:40 pm, and have about twenty minutes to eat before the Quattro For Life call at 6:00.
The Quattro For Life (QFL) call is important to us for two reasons: First, it’s our weakly education on how to grow our business and stay in balance. Second, Quattro Boosters was founded on the basis that we are experts on the QFL calls, so it is imperative that we stay up with them and know everything about them.
After the QFL is the Founder’s Call. This is a call for Quattro Independent Sales Reps. Around the same time the 90-Day challenge started, the Founder’s Calls were reenergized to give Quattro Reps training specifically on how to grow their Quattro business. This is exciting for all of us. We’ve always had support form each other, but it means a lot to have direct from the top! This ends at about 8:15 pm.
Then I do my daily video, my blog, keep up with my Facebook page (I haven’t started using Twitter yet), and try to get to bed by 10:00 or 10:30 pm. If I can get to bed by 10:00, I can do some reading before going to sleep. But if I get to bed later than 10:30, I start feeling it the rest of the week. Kris and I use to watch a half-hour of TV (usually an anime video) to relax before going to bed. But recently, we’ve gotten out of the habit.
I think you really can’t be in balance every day. Sometimes you have to work hard for a day, or two or a week on a project – especially if it’s important to you. But as long as you balance out later, you’ll be okay. Yesterday, for example, I did some Quattro work. That was the video with the praying mantis. That was fun. Then we saw “District 9”, had a friend over for dinner, and I barbequed.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on how far out of balance you can go without hurting yourself.
“It’s not about the destination…it is the journey that is important.”
~ Ancient Zen saying
Quattro University has issued a challenge to it’s reps – and really to anyone else who wants to participate. Starting today, those reps that are taking part are going to post a blog AND a YouTube video EVERY DAY for the next 90 days. The blogs will chronicle our journey in the areas of Wealth, Wellness, Leadership and Legacy.
Sound tough? Sound impossible? Nothing is impossible if you want it badly enough, but why answer this 90-day challenge? What do we (and you) get out of it?
The answer is EVERYTHING. It is the push, the incentive that will evolve us as human beings in every area we tackle in the four elements. It will trigger our evolution IF WE WANT IT BAD ENOUGH. That is the key. It is an opportunity to give ourselves an amazing gift of the chance to become “all that we can be”. Anything worth having is worth the effort…diamonds are made under tremendous pressure in the Earth’s crust. No one complains about it and yet everyone wants to shine as they do.
90 days can be done, even in this busy and stressful world. Dennis and I are both committed to give it our all and beyond to accomplish it.
Today’s DailyOM is about Cloud Meditation. It appears a strange concept at first when so many books out there encourage meditation focused on a “white light”, or in a quiet room setting with candles and/or music, but it might well be the oldest meditation on the planet.
That is because it requires no props, no visualization skills, just the Earth to lay back on and the sky above with its puffy, floating inhabitants. It did not need to be thought out by monks or shamans. Even children use this simple meditation naturally, without direction. Books, movies and Japanese animation often have their characters gazing up at clouds to symbolize the contemplation of their paths when faced with a difficult decision of which road to take on their journey through life.
Think back to a time in your childhood when you sat on a hill or in your backyard and looked up at the clouds. Even when one has a difficult childhood, skyward contemplation provides a temporary escape and resets our minds and emotions if we let it. The key of course, is to let go and let it do its magic.
The DailyOM reminds us of the drama light plays when beams of sunshine break through the clouds…I take you one step further and challenge you to watch tonight’s sunset. It’s rainbows of reds, oranges and maroons bouncing off clouds is even more amazing.
Please take a moment to read today’s DailyOM at http://www.dailyom.com and take it to heart. Sit outside on your lunch or break and try it. It has a healing quality that will get you through the day. If you can’t make it outside, I invite you to view these photos. I took them at the beginning of June while at my car mechanic’s shop. In the middle of a highly industrialized area, waiting for my car, I happened to look up and was awestruck by the amazing patterns the clouds were making, like dabs of paint from a paintbrush, so I grabbed my camera and shot these pictures. Enjoy and always remember to take a moment away from your busy life when you feel you need to and gaze up at the clouds.
Heh, it’s coming up FAST. We can’t wait! Right now on Twitter, “Comic-Con” is the #9 Trending Topic…you can also find info on comic con under the search tag, “#SDCC”.
Dennis and Kristine Cherry have been married for 20 years. They met when Dennis was attending USC as a Cinema/Television Production student. Dennis, being a big “Star Trek” fan, had a Ford Pinto which he had custom-painted with the markings of the USS Enterprise. Kris, being a big “Star Wars” fan (she was one of those who had seen the movie over a hundred times…129 to be precise) saw that Dennis was a big science fiction fan and asked him out to their first date – which was to a midnight screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”. They dated for two years before going their separate ways.
However, seven years, later they re-met when Kris was coming out of a science fiction convention at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles and Dennis was going into his 10-year high school class reunion at the same hotel. Dennis joined Kris’s “Star Trek” fan club, the USS Achenar, and they soon started dating again. On May 21st, 1989 they were married. “It’s as if God was throwing us together and saying, ‘Okay, get it right this time!’”, comments Dennis.
For most of their married lives they have been working in corporate America. Kris has had several jobs as an administrative assistant at such companies as Laagco Sales and California Financial Credit Association (CFCA). She was most recently a retail sales representative at Natren, Inc. After three years, she decided to leave Natren to work for herself as a business owner. She decided to take on her part-time jewelry business, EarthDaughter Arts (www.earthdaughterarts.com) full time. She learned to create her own website for her jewelry business, which led to her becoming a web designer for non-profit organizations and to create her second company, Civic Site Designs (www.civicsitedesigns.com).
During a networking event, she was introduced to Quattro University. After reviewing their educational program, philosophy and business model, she joined as an Independent Sales Representative.
After having his foot in the entertainment business door of such companies as New World Post Production, ABC and Viacom, Dennis’ career journey finally let him to Natren, Inc., where he is now the Office Coordinator (basically, the office manager). Kris was introduced to Natren through Dennis. And later, Dennis was introduced to Quattro through Kris. After listening to the business education of the Quattro for Life phone calls, meeting co-founders Cheri Tree and Kecia Wimmer several times, and seeing the business potential of Quattro, Dennis decided to join Kris as an Independent Sales Rep.
