Quattro’s 90-day Challenge – Day 90 – We are through!

Wow, it’s finally Day 90. What a challenge it has been to get to this point without missing a day, but we DID IT!!! Both Dennis and I learned things along the way we didn’t expect we would, and often we weren’t sure where we were going during the journey.

We learned discipline – had to to get the video and blog up every night. We can apply this in future projects and be sure now that it is possible for us to give it our all and see it through, despite the outcome.

We learned perseverence – there were many nights I wanted to say, “screw it” and skip a night. I have to thank my husband Dennis for talking me out of my lethargy and continuing on. He was an inspiration to even just sit back and watch. He got videos up despite relatives going to the hospital, despite getting all his teeth removed and the terrible pain and discomfort he endured up until a week or two ago (yes, he was in some form of pain or another THIS ENTIRE TIME SINCE THE SURGERY) AND despite having a miserable cold after the surgery. I don’t know another human with so much determination to see something through to the end.

I learned flexibility, more creativity than I thought I had (and I thought I had a lot before!) and that you learn more and different things than you set out to when you embark on a self-improvement journey. A lot of people are, to put it bluntly, too chicken, too lazy or make excuses that they are too busy to even start on one. It is those people I pity because they will NEVER BE MORE THAN THEY ARE RIGHT NOW. And really, how lame are those excuses when we only have one shot at life? Think about what you are doing with your life RIGHT NOW. Are you happy? Are you fulfilled? Does your life have meaning and purpose? Mine does and so can yours. The only one holding you back IS YOU.

I said in my YouTube video tonight I would go over my goals here tonight in my blog, but I am going to save that for tomorrow. It’s getting late and this wrap-up is all that is needed to be said tonight about the fact that…

I FINISHED THE 90-DAY CHALLENGE…What is your challenge? What will you do to change your life?

Quattro University – Day 71 – How to use an RSS Feed to promote your beadwork, uh, I mean your business

rss-feed

rss-feed

An “RSS Feed” stands for “Real Simple Syndication”. It is a virtual i.v. drip for the latest information from your favorite websites that carry RSS feeds. It came before Twitter (though it probably inspired Twitter’s evolution) and unlike that increasingly popular application, RSS feeds happen automatically, as soon as something is posted to a website. A link to the post is fed out to the RSS subscribers and all the subscribers “feeds” come to one page on their favorite reader. Look for the symbol above on your favorite website and subscribe to keep up on the latest in your hobbies, your political party and your industry, then Facebook and/or Twitter it and keep on top of the Google ranks. Have fun!

Quattro University 90-day Challenge – Day 37 – A True Networking Resource is…

…one who offers their network and resources to others without thought of gain. I am offering myself as a resource in your network. If you need something you cannot obtain in your network or circle of friends, LET ME KNOW. If I don’t know of someone in my circle that can get it, I will find it for you. It is as simple as asking me. What have you got to lose?

Quattro’s 90-Day Challenge – Day 26 – Interview with an Entrepreneur – Becky Acosta of Blisspoint Creations

Today started early…about 5:15 a.m. to prepare for a trip to Lancaster. After picking up some friends to help with setup at our destination, an arts & crafts show, we hit the road at 7:00 a.m.

I have done this show several years in a row in the past, but this year, with the 90-day challenge, Quattro, my Sensei Ron workshop training and website clients demanding attention, I had no time at all to make new product for it, let alone gather old stock together for my friends to display at their table. It was a hard, painful decision I put off for a long time, but it had to be made. I just couldn’t do it this year.

Being an entrepreneur can be hard, sometimes, and training to be one is no different. In fact, there really is no such thing as “training” to be an entrepreneur because it is a life-long process of learning. Sacrifices are made here and there the entire journey. That is the the price for pursuing our dreams. If we persevere to the end, it is worth it. If we quit before our goals are achieved, we gain nothing.

Quattro’s 90-Day Challenge – Day 23 – A Rockin’ Day of Leadership and Learning!

There was a pretty good turnout at CLUB Entrepreneur4 today at the Palihouse in West Hollywood. I was even surprised to discover someone from my meetup group showed up! It has been a challenge to get them to come and anyone that makes it is always greatly welcome and appreciated by me.

Quattro Co-Founder Kecia Wimmer gave the talk on “Networking Basics 101″ and how a networking function SHOULD BE worked, but rarely is by those there. She reminded us that we most likely spent money to be there and we should get our money’s worth out of it by properly “working the room” with the questions we ask each person we meet, and to meet as many people there as possible. I always highly value hers and Cheri Tree’s advice…how else am I ever going to learn how to be a millionaire unless I listen and learn from…you guessed it, MILLIONAIRES!

Afterwards I treated myself to a side-trip to an awesome bookstore nearby called The Bodhi Tree. Everyone in L.A. knows about it…heh, I didn’t for a long time and got surprised looks when I told people I had never been there, but wow, was it ever a great find! It’s a good thing it is so far from my house or I’d go broke there.

The evening rounded off with my newest addition to my self-improvement crash course, my biweekly call with Sensei Ron Thomas in his 12-week “Black Belt” course. I am already seeing in the second call how he can potentially change my perception of abundance and start drawing it towards me/us…I am really excited at the possibilities for the future now!

That’s it for tonight. See you tomorrow!

Quattro’s 90-day challenge – Day 18 – – Courage is Not What You Think It Is

There’s a very important lesson here – leaders face their fears and work through them, but it doesn’t mean they’re not scared. It is BECAUSE they are scared and do the things that scare them anyway…this is what makes them leaders!

90-day Challenge – Day 14 – The Value That Has Me Speechless

Do you know what “value” is? Do you have any idea when something of great & amazing value comes along?

Are you aware of it and the opportunity to posses it when your time comes to be its lucky recipient?

Learning a new skill, especially when it is needed for sales and communication, can be hard. Having experienced the Quattro education and not yet having the skill to convey how awesome it is to people is frustrating at times. Having the personality traits of a “cat”, as Sensei Ron Thomas put it, (introverted, wanting to talk to no one and keep my distance) probably explains why this is so difficult for me. Cheri Tree would also probably tell you I fall into the “knowledge” junkie category of her B.A.N.K. sales training. You know the type…the ones that respond back with the Star Trek Vulcan “salute” when it is flashed at them by another nerd? According to the statistics she gave us, only 12% of that type are salespeople.

Man, that sucks.

I tried so hard long ago to purge that nerd part of myself, but I think the cat part of me still had its claws in it. *sigh* It’s a long, painful story as to why I tried to leave it behind…please don’t ask.

Self-transformation is hard – I get that, yet my personal religions beliefs celebrate these changes like the changes of the seasons, and of life and death. Observing & respecting their existence is one thing, I guess, when they happen to you it’s a whole ‘nother story.

Where is all this rambling going? It is my frustration at not having the level of sales yet that would mean I am making a difference. Why do I still get so tongue-tied when I speak to Cheri? That is easy…the woman is frigging AMAZING. She did something after our firewalk at the first Quattro College I will never forget.

I was scared to DEATH to walk through those burning coals. Even after seeing everyone else do it in front of my eyes, I was still REALLY SCARED. Cats need everything explained to them. Why can I do this and not get fried to a crisp? Is it a logical reason, blah, blah, blah.

Everyone started lining up to walk through them a SECOND TIME. Holy Crap, here I was scared to do it once and everyone was fighting to do it again. What the he!! was wrong with me? I went to stand in line with the second timers and finally had to shut down the screaming part of my brain that didn’t want me to do it and just…just…WALK.

I fairly “ran” over those coals…not super-fast, but definitely walking REALLY BRISKLY. Once I was on the other side of them, standing there trembling, Cheri came over and hugged me and whispered into my ear, “You can do ANYTHING.” It brought tears to my eyes.

It still does.

So yes, I am still tongue-tied when talking to people and yes I am still a mess, though with Cheri there is a good reason. I have so much respect for her and her mission that it leaves me absolutely speechless – literally.

90-day Challenge – Day 11 – Funny Fails in Communication

Why am I blogging the beginning of the weekend with a Wealth topic? Heh, I got screwed up because I did so much in the realm of Wellness & Legacy during the week, that’s why. But I thought about it and this can be something you can keep in your back pocket for Monday when you get back to visiting clients next week, so it’s okay.

I’ll plan it out better next week =)

So, my YouTube video today is about preparing for those client calls next week – what to do and what not to do, BUT since it’s the weekend, let’s have some fun with the DON’Ts and get the weekend started with some laughs. Here are some hysterical Epic “FAIL” images from www.failblog.org that will remind you to double-check and triple-check those emails you send out next week, those signs you make for the office and those ad campaigns that are due to hit the internet where they’ll be viewed by millions.

You have been warned…

HAND BRAKE?!? Duh.

HAND BRAKE?!? Duh.

Check your spelling in those signs, ads & proposals, people.

90-day Challenge – Day 8 – When Business Cards Attack!

As my husband Dennis video’d tonight…I’m with him. The downside of 3-day holidays is that you get behind if you’re not careful…then the week seems too short to recover. I tried to avoid that by working steadily today until I went the to gym and then to my mixer in Burbank.

At least I started to get those darn business cards under control!

It helps to not only organize them in a binder or rolodex, but also to go through and purge them once in a while. Haven’t seen a networker in 6 months? They never call you? Do they have some really obscure business you’ll probably never need to use and can think of no one to refer to them? It might be time to cut that little card loose, then.

Bye bye, little card. Time to make room for more.

90-day Challenge – Day 4 – Leading by Teaching

Many of the Quattro University instructors talk about how they love to teach. As we sat in their classes at the April Inagural College, Eric Lofholm, Sensei Ron Thomas and especially Gary de Rodriguez all expressed a joy and personal satisfaction in having students. They are masters in their fields for many reasons that are not always purely academic.

The marks of a good leader are patience, compassion, humility and a sense of the “big picture” they are guiding their students towards.

Recently there was a debate between two of my Facebook contacts on what makes a person a good leader. These qualities were cited, but someone pointed out that leaders are not always good, such as the genocidal despots of World War II (Hitler, Mussolini, etc.). That is why the rarely-mentioned virtues of patience, compassion and humility are so vital in making a good leader, one worth following.

All entrepreneurs need to be leaders. Before I joined Quattro I didn’t realize this. Even if one is not an entrepreneur, building leadership skills helps one advance on their journey through life because if you are not the leader of your own life, someone else will be the leader for you and they may guide you to a place you do not like.
